Obituary

Dorothy Ruth Hirsch, 100, of Greeley, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

She was born in Greeley Colorado to Henry and Rose (Rosenoff) Hirsch, Jr. and attended high school in Galeton. She married her high-school sweetheart, Clarence Rossman, they had four children.

Dorothy lived in Weld County most of her life. She and her second husband, Orville, moved to Kansas to farm for a period of time but were eager to return to Colorado.

Dorothy was a clerical worker for many years taking pride in having worked for State Farm, Ghent Chevrolet and the City of Evans. She loved to crochet and for years made baby blankets and hats she donated to local hospitals. Dorothy was an avid gardener and loved showing off her garden and giving bouquets of flowers to visitors. She loved to cook and bake, especially her favorite German dishes and candy, around the holidays.

Dorothy was a positive and happy individual who was loved by everyone she met. She cared deeply for her family and was there for anything they needed. She cherished family gatherings and holidays, having her house full of love and laughter.

She was a member of many groups and organizations, and she loved giving back to the community. Dorothy loved to play cards and Dutch Hop. She was a dedicated Broncos fan who loved cheering for them.

Dorothy celebrated her 100th Birthday in August, surrounded by family and friend.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cheryll Carson (Mike) of Bullhead City, Arizona. Her siblings Richard Hirsch (Shirley) of Greeley, CO, her sister Margaret Gehring of Omaha, NE, and her sister Henrietta Perry of Greeley, CO. As well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Rossman and Orville Hoff. Her children; Dianna Janssen (John), Janet Timothy and Thomas Rossman and grandsons Aaron Timothy and Luke Salyards.

We hope Dorothy is Dutch Hopping in Heaven with those who went before her.
