Dorothy M. Brown, 96, of Greeley, formerly of Wray, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley. She was born on February 27, 1910 in Kansas City, Kansas to Thurston and Bessie (Holsberg) McCartney. Dorothy married James D. Brown in 1942 in Nebraska. He preceded her in death in 1983. She attended school in Kansas City and later in Evanston, Illinois. She later attended Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma where she earned a Master's Degree. She taught school in Eastern Colorado in one room school houses in the area around Wray. Dorothy was a member of the Greeley Seventh Day Adventist Church. She taught 4-H and enjoyed collecting stamps and Buffalo nickels and also enjoyed hunting arrowheads. Survivors include 2 daughters, Maxine Ide of Greeley and Mary Harris of Wiggins; a son and his wife, Gary & Ida Brown of Greeley; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Clint & Jan Ide of Greeley, Cathy & Mike Ream of LaSalle, Curtis & Laura Ide of Covington, Louisiana, Christine Ide of Greeley, Wayne Harris of Greeley, Tobby Falica of Thornton, Gina & Mike Webster of Thornton, Michelle & Jake Greenwood of Phelan, California, Sonia Renee Brown of Greeley and James D. Brown of Greeley. She is also survived by several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Maxine Egan. A funeral service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wray, Colorado. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel and a second visitation will be held prior to the service in Wray at the church from 12:30 until the time of the funeral service at the church.
