Dorothy Winifred Soundy Rogers was born on February 16, 1915 in Genoa, Nebraska to Dr. Arthur and Olga (Widholm) Soundy. She died at Bee Hives Homes in Evans on Thursday, January 22, 2009 after a short illness with pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Rogers, daughter of a Presbyterian minister, lived in various towns in Nebraska before Dr. Soundy moved to Minden, Nebraska where Dorothy graduated from high school. She married William Hansen Rogers in Livingston, Montana on August 23, 1937 and later moved to Denver, then to Loveland in 1939. Dorothy and Bill settled in Greeley in 1941 where she has lived since. She worked side by side with her husband in what is now Rogers Automotive, Inc. Her husband died on February 26, 1994. Dorothy was active in the Women's Association of First Presbyterian Church, Stella McClanahan Women's Missionary Group, and Greeley Christian Women's Club for many years. She loved to knit and made over 100 afghans for all her family and many of her friends. She also loved her flower garden, raised many strawberries and raspberries, but put most of her emphasis on caring for her family. She received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord in her late teens and raised her family in the Christian faith of the United Presbyterian Church (now First Presbyterian Church) in Greeley. She is survived by four children: Michael William Rogers and his wife Rhoda of Greeley, Pamela Jean Weber of Greeley, Joan Eloise Childress and her husband Gary of Longmont, and Stanley Fayette Rogers of Greeley, as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She has one brother, Arthur Soundy, of Minden, Nebraska. Preceded in death by her husband, William, son-in-law Harold Weber, and two sisters. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 26 at First Presbyterian Church, 1321 Ninth Avenue, Greeley. Cremation.
