Dorothy Jean Strong, 64, of Evans, passed away early Saturday morning, July 30, 2011 at her home after a long struggle with cancer which she met with characteristic strength and grace. Dorothy was born on July 18, 1947, in Greeley, Colorado to Ernest and Laura Meyer. After graduating from Greeley High School in 1965, Dorothy attended Colorado State University and then Colorado State College where she met her future husband David Strong. David and Dorothy had four children before divorcing in 1990. From 1982 to 2011, Dorothy served local veterans in the Weld County Veterans' Service Office. Dorothy was a voracious reader, loving and devoted mother, and friend to many. More than words can say, her wit and kind heart will be missed. Dorothy is survived by a son Bill Strong and wife Stephanie of Springfield, MO; a daughter Elizabeth Strong of Evans, CO; a son Matthew Strong of Evans, CO; her grandchildren Ireland, Patrick, Joshua, and Jamie, all of Springfield, MO; and sister Patty Marriner of Greeley, CO. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Andrea Eve Strong. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans.
