Earl M. Pitts, 76 of Greeley, formerly of Evans & Gill died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
He was born on January 15, 1935 to Walter C. and Thelma (Caywood) Pitts in Fruita, Colorado.
Mr. Pitts married Shirley Ann Carey on November 17, 1956 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2007.
Earl farmed for most of his life aside from the time he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He later farmed in the Gill & Galeton areas from 1978 until retiring in 1999. He was a charter member of Grace Community Bible Church in Evans.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherlyn Kay Hill and her husband Michael of Windsor, 2 sons, Walter Charles Pitts and his wife Aubrey of Greeley and Douglas Earl Pitts and his wife Wendy of Greeley; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Falls, Aaron Hill, Jessica Walker, Jason, Amberly, Ethan, Tyler and Branden Pitts, Austen, Madysen and Kylee Blevins; 2 great granddaughters, Hailee and Hanna Falls; 2 sisters, Rosie Winters of Grand Junction and Thelma Inchauski of Fruita. He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, a son, Daryl Lynn Pitts in 1995, a grandson in law, Robert Falls and 2 brothers, Curtis & Billy Pitts.
A funeral service to celebrate Earl's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Moser Funeral Service chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
