Edward Eugene "Ed" Lockman, 48 of Greeley, died on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the North Colorado Medical Center.
He was born on November 14, 1958 to Ronald Lee and Anna Marie (Smaniotto) Lockman in Newton, Iowa where he lived for most of his life. He graduated from Newton High School in 1977. Ed was injured at the age of 19 in a motorcycle accident and was paralyzed from the neck down. He moved to Greeley to become a resident of the Greeley Center for Independence in 2003. During that time he met a lot of wonderful people and his family appreciates the care that he received there. Despite his injuries, he always had a positive attitude and his friends and family will remember him for his wit and great sense of humor. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and loved NASCAR and was a big fan of Jeff Gordon.
Survivors include his mother, Anna M. Lockman of Greeley; his sister, Debra Fox of Colorado Springs; 3 nephews, Jake, Ben and Matthew Fox all of Colorado Springs; 3 Aunts, Marilyn Brodersen and her husband Larry of Newton, Iowa and Jennie Lee Smaniotto and Deon Smaniotto both of Seymour, Iowa; an uncle, Eugene Smaniotto of Seymour, Iowa; numerous cousins in Iowa and Arizona and special friends, Carol Johnson and Diane Larson both of Newton, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Lee Lockman and 2 uncles, Donald and Raymond Smaniotto.
A graveside service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue.
