Edward Ray Stevenson, 87, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ed was born on April 30, 1939, in Hoisington, Kansas, to Harold and Alice Stevenson. After graduating from high school, in 1958 he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for four years. After that, he went into the Electrical trade, a profession to which he dedicated most of his life.
Ed was briefly married to Marilyn Vohn, and together they welcomed two children, David Ray and Tammie Jo. He later met the love of his life, Lois Jean Smith, and they were married in 1967. Through Lois, he gained another daughter, Karen Lynn Coffey, and together they became a family of five. Ed and Lois shared 43 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2012.
In 2013, Ed reconnected with a longtime friend, Cindy Flot. They became loving companions, and Cindy, along with her three adult children and their spouses, became a cherished part of his extended family. Cindy passed away shortly before Ed, in March 2026.
Ed was an avid fisherman. Throughout the years, he made many trips to Alaska to pursue his passion. He had a deep love for gardening, and his family will fondly remember the beautiful roses that only he seemed able to grow each year. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in LaSalle. Above all, Ed cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. He loved life and truly lived it to the fullest.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alice Stevenson; his wife, Lois Stevenson; his companion, Cindy Flot; his brothers, Richard and Harold; and his sisters, Bobbie, Gladys, and Lorna.
He is survived by his brother, Pat (Liz) Stevenson; his sister, Judith Schuh; his son, David (Jill) Stevenson; his daughters, Tammie (Rick) Schaeffer and Karen Coffey; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street in Greeley. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans.
