Eliseo "Blackie" Leyva, 85, of Evans, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at North Colorado Medical Center.
He was born January 3, 1939, in Worland, Wyoming to Clyde and Benita (Gonzalez) Leyva. He was a 1958 graduate from Worland High School and went on to work for the State of Colorado with the mentally handicapped. He retired after 17 years. His first marriage was to Judy Robinson from 1962-1965. He then married Maria Macias from 1970-1992.
On February 7, 1995, he married Anita Garcia in Denver, Colorado and they lived in Evans until the time of his passing. He was a member of El Shaddai Four Square Church in Greeley.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Leyva, sons, John Gillette and Edward Leyva, daughters, Lorena Gillette, Nancy Garcia, and Karen Sierra, brothers, Benjamin, Joshua, Richard, and Steve Leyva, sisters, Ruth Haselhun, and Loida Molina, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Benita Leyva, and brothers, Clyde and Daniel Leyva.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the 23rd Avenue Church, 2332 W. 27th Street in Evans, Colorado.
