Ella Mae Huwa, 84 of Greeley, passed on February 4, 2015 at NCMC. Ella was born to Marie and Adam Brehm on June 11, 1930 in Frederick, CO. She graduated from Johnstown HS in 1948. Ella married Alexander Huwa on December 12, 1948, and they were married 46 years before his passing.

Being raised on the farm, Ella enjoyed spending time with her father and helping him with the farm work. Ella also learned from her mother how to sew, make noodles, and bake Angel Food cakes. Ella's childhood prepared her for being a wonderful farmer’s wife.

Ella loved helping her husband in the fields and with the dairy. She prepared home cooked meals for the harvest crews and her family, even after the long hours required by the dairy and field work. Her work as a mom included helping with 4-H, Cub Scouts, and athletic events.

After Alex and Ella sold the farm, she worked for Hewlett Packard in Loveland for twenty years until she retired in 1995. Ella was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor.

Ella was a gifted homemaker who took great care in passing on her skills to the women of the family. An attentive teacher, she taught them how to prepare traditional German recipes, homemade noodles, and Angel Food cakes. Ella was also a talented seamstress, working on alterations, making quilts, and embroidering tea towels, which she generously shared with family and friends.

Ella cherished time with family. With her son, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Valerie, Ella enjoyed visiting their cabin in Wyoming to go ATV riding and fishing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dairies remained an important part of Ella’s life. She loved visiting her son, Glenn, and his family at the Double W Dairy in Holyoke, CO where she prepared home cooked meals for Glenn and partners Marc and Gregg Wailes.

Ella's love for her family was inclusive of all spouses marrying into the family, treating each one as her own child or grandchild. A hard worker, a generous and kind woman - this is Ella’s legacy. Her sweet spirit was evidence of her love for and faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ella is survived by her son, Glenn and his fiancee, Charla Salvador of Holyoke and Yuma, CO; Glenn’s family includes Jennifer (Justin) Cowan and son, Connor; Lindsay (Ryan) Perrich and children Brooks and Eloise; and Evan (Bailey) Huwa. Ella is also survived by son, Richard, and wife, Valerie, of Greeley, and their sons, David (Heather) Huwa and children, Elizabeth, Jayden, Duncan and Emma; and Jerod (Megan) Huwa.

Ella is also survived by her sisters, Viola Gavoille, Dorothy Held, Lillian Schaeffer, Mary Ann Gooding, Jane Harding, and Geri (Richard) Sterkel, sister-in-law Charlene Brehm, a dear brother-in-law Henry Erbes, and his son, Ken (Jenny) Erbes. Ella is preceded in death by her husband, parents; brother Robert Brehm; and daughter-in-law Debbie Wailes Huwa.

Services for Ella will begin with a visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street in Windsor. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor.
