Elsie F. Sitzman, 97 of Greeley, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Fairacres Manor Nursing home.
She was born to Henry and Elizabeth (Phaltzgraff) Kitzman on July 23, 1917 in Loveland, CO. She grew up on a farm there with four sisters and five brothers.
On August 11, 1935 Elsie and Ben Roth were married. They lived in Greeley, Colorado until 1939 when Ben was transferred to Denver with International Harvester Company. In 1942 they moved to Portland, Oregon where Ben worked in the ship yards for the duration of the war. After the war they moved back to Colorado where they along with Ben’s brother, Alvin Roth, opened Roths Garage in Peckham. The couple had three sons, Norman, Ronald, and Jerry. Ben passed away on March 3, 1974.
Elsie joined the Presbyterian Church in 1948 and served as a deacon and an elder and was a member of the Kings’ Daughters.
Elsie worked in retail sales at Eakers and Jones Company in Greeley. She also volunteered at NCMC for over 20 years.
On December 3, 1978 Elsie married Herman Sitzman. They enjoyed traveling and playing cards. They spent countless hours with their grandchildren and were wonderful grandparents. Herman passed away on October 16, 1998.
Survivors are her three sons, Norman (Robin) Bradenton, FL, Ronald (Jo) Denver, CO, and Jerry (Carol) Greeley, CO. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two step sons, Ronald Sitzman (Sharon) Topeka, KS and Larry Sitzman (Pat) Bakersfield, CA; two sisters Esther Mesman and Lillian DeCaraolas; two brothers August Kitzman and Edwin Kitzman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. A funeral service to celebrate Elsie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
