Emma A. Troudt 96, of Greeley, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at North Colorado Medical Center, following a brief illness. A first generation American, Emma was the seventh child of eleven, born to German-from-Russian immigrant parents, Fred and Anna (Schmidt)Gorr. She was born on February 11, 1917, in Gaylord, Minnesota. She was the wife of Albert Troudt, and the mother of four sons, Marvin, Tommy, Roger, and Calvin. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where she attended school and church. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church. She met her husband, Albert, on the school bus and they were married December 19, 1933 in Harrisburg, NE. They farmed northeast of Scottsbluff until they moved to Colorado in 1945. They farmed in the Wiggins, Gill and Ault communities where they raised corn, pinto beans, sugar beets and hay. They also raised cattle. Emma was an ever-present farm wife doing chores, raising chickens, driving tractors and trucks. She would often be in the corral when cattle were being sorted for sale. In 1978, the Troudt's retired from farming and moved to her present home in Greeley. From there they ran a seed-and- feed business for 9 years. Emma was always the family accountant. During her lifetime, Emma was an accomplished cook with a steady supply of homemade noodles, butterballs, and coffee cakes. She very much enjoyed various community clubs, playing cards, shopping and polka-dancing. Emma was proud of her 67 year membership at St. Paul's Congregational Church. She was active in the Ladies Aid Organization, and enjoyed times serving members of the church. Emma is survived by her son, Marvin and wife, Joanne of Fort Morgan. Her grandchildren Roxanne Troudt of Greeley, Sandy Troudt and Nanci Hopper of Keller, TX, Colleen and David Miller of Colorado Springs, Mark and Debbie Troudt of Broomfield and Lou Ann Lebofsky of Denver. Also, her great-grandchildren, Laurel and Brian Stone, Denver; Patrick Miller, Frisco; Kellen Miller, Fort Collins; Danielle Troudt and Kyle Troudt of Broomfield. Other survivors include her sister, Lillian Blehm of Mitchell, NE and brother, Reuben Gorr of Minatare, NE, brother-in-law Clarence Troudt and sister-in-law Margie Brown of Greeley, Mildred Dyer of Ault, and Helen Gorr of Torrington, Wyo. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons Tommy, Roger, and Calvin, and granddaughter, Stephanie. Others preceding her in death were her brothers Sam, David, Richard, Fred Jr., Walter and an infant brother, and sisters Mary Heigel and Emily Hardin. Funeral services to celebrate Emma's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Paul's Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Avenue in Greeley. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
