Enrique Garcia passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, in Longmont, Colorado.
Enrique Garcia-De La Cruz, was the son of María Trinidad and José Garcia. He was born on July 15, 1938, in Villa Ocampo, Durango Mexico. ,
He was a master mechanic, and a jack of all trades learned over a lifetime of hard work. As a young teen, he and his family moved to Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico where his father, grandpa Jose, got him a job in a butcher shop. A few years later the Garcias moved to Delicias, Chihuahua where Enrique found a job working for a mechanic and auto electric repair shop. He learned the trade and later became a general auto repair mechanic. In early 1960, at the age of 22 he came to Colorado through the Brazero, farm hand work program. Later in 1960 before he returned to Mexico and before Congress cut the program, the farmer Mr. Edward Fritzler whom Enrique worked for gave him his business card and invited him to come back to work for him anytime, legally or illegally. In the spring of 1964 Enrique married Margarita Martinez in Delicias Chihuahua and had four children, before Enrique decided to call Mr. Fritzler in Colorado. In 1969 Enrique and his young family crossed the border and moved to Colorado. Two more children were born to Enrique and Margarita and Enrique spent most of the next 54 years in Platteville, Colorado raising his family and being a pilar of his community.
Enrique was preceeded in death by two of his sons Enrique Jr. and Gerardo and is survived by his, Wife Margarita, daughters Juanita and Elia and sons Jesus and Miguel.
Services will begin with a visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12th at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue in Greeley, Colorado.
