Ernest L. "Ernie" Hagen, 82 of Evans, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Garden Square of Greeley Assisted Living.
He was born on November 13, 1926 to Olaf Ingvald and Lillian C. (Rustad) Hagen in Marshall County, Minnesota. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1960, he married Jean McWilliam in Winger, MN. They moved to Evans, Colorado in 1962.
Ernie worked as a meat cutter at Monfort for almost 20 years, and then went on to start his own lawn service, TNT Lawn Service, from 1982-1995. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and loved to play horseshoes and cards with friends.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Jean, his sons-in-law Don Weston, of Greeley and Eddie Hartnett of Arvada, his daughters, Stephanie Harvey of Craig, Colorado, and Shelley Hartnett, of Arvada, Colorado, a sister, Irene Sjulestad of Phoenix, Arizona, and 4 grandchildren; Tylor and Elise Weston and Jacqueline & Eddie Hartnett and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Olaf and Lillian Hagen, a brother, Percy Hagen and a sister, Mildred Joppru.
A funeral service to celebrate Ernie's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery (Staging Area "C" ) in Denver.
