Ernest "Ern" Melendez, 68, of Greeley, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at North Colorado Medical Center.

He was born November 7, 1955, in Greeley to Lorenzo and Eufemia Melendez. He was a graduate of Windsor High School and then went to work for Eastman Kodak from 1974-2009 (graduating from the apprenticeship program in 1978 as an Automatic Equipment Mechanic). He later went to work for Vestas in 2011-2016 as a Production Operator. In 1974, he married Kathleen L Perez in Greeley.

Ern was an avid bowler. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Melendez, his sons Keith (Heather McWorter) and Kurtis Melendez, a daughter Angela (John) Kellogg, 1 granddaughter, Ava Kellogg, 5 brothers, Victor, Mario, Ray, Fidencio Melendez and Isidro Almaguer, 3 sisters, Elia Barber, Mary Cardona, and Laura Gilmore.

He was preceded by his parents, Lorenzo Melendez, Eufemia Melendez and a brother, Jesse Melendez.

A celebration of Ern's life will be held from 1-4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Panorama Room at the University Center, 2101 10th Avenue in Greeley. Parking is free for those that wish to attend.
