Evelyn M. Thompson, 69, passed away on August 12, 2008 at her residence in Fort Collins, Colorado. Evelyn "Eve" was born on September 26, 1938 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Clifton Cole and Ruth Lucille (Speakman) Rawlings. She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1956. She graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing in May of 1960. She devoted many years of her life to the nursing profession and retired from Poudre Valley Hospital in 2003. Evelyn and Larry D. Thompson eloped on August 15, 1958 in Seneca, Kansas. They lived in Omaha, Neb. from 1958 to 1978. They had four children and 8 grandchildren. He preceded her in death in August 2004. Evelyn loved to travel to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Hawaii. She loved her flower garden and her black pekingese, Buddy. Survivors include: Her mother, Ruth L. Rawlings of Nebraska City, Nebraska, her brother, Larry L. Rawlings and his wife, Carolyn both of Nebraska City. Her sister, Beverly J. Luna and her husband, William of Bellvue, Nebraska. 3 daughters, Cherry Cathey and her husband, John, Tami Oehlkers, Geri Thompson and her husband Steve Harris and 1 son, Eric M. Thompson all of Fort Collins, Colorado. She had 8 grandchildren: Lauren and Alyssa Cathey, Chad, Chelsie and Grant Oehlkers, Keegan Harris, Karina and Eric Daniel Thompson. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Cole Rawlings. A private family memorial service will be held.
