Frank J. Carpio, 59 of Greeley, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
He was born on March 8, 1949 in Greeley to Luz and Catherine (Rivera) Carpio.
Frank was a graduate of Greeley Central High School. He went on to serve as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. After completing his time in the Army, he returned to Colorado where he completed the first Paramedic course in the State of Colorado in 1976. He worked in Longmont as a paramedic until he joined the Boulder Fire Department in 1980 where he rose to the rank of Captain. He retired from the Boulder Fire Department in 2005.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Nielson of Frederick, Colorado; 3 sons, Patrick Carpio of Golden, Montee Carpio of Firestone and Levi Carpio of Greeley; 3 grandchildren, Brock, Jasmine and Charlie Francisco; 3 sisters, Mary Ellen Garcia of Greeley, Mercy Torrez of Longmont And Lupe Degi of Denver; a brother, Joe Carpio of Thornton and his longtime girlfriend, Kathleen Yeater of Greeley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luz and Catherine Carpio; a sister, Lucy Hidalgo and 2 brothers, Ralph and Manuel Carpio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July14, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church (915 12th Street in Greeley). Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. Following the service cremation will be completed and Frank's urn will be interred at a later date at the Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder. Frank's wishes were to have no visitation.
