Frank M. Lewis, 96, of Platteville, CO passed away from natural causes February 7, 2024, at Berthoud Care and Rehabilitation Nursing Home.
Frank was born May 2, 1927, to Jack and Margarita (Garcia) Lewis in Alamosa, CO. He married the late Lucy M. Fresquez on February 13, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gilcrest, CO.
Frank enlisted in the United States Army on November 9, 1945. He served in WWII as a Private First Class Medical Tech and was awarded the United States Army of Occupational Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He received his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army on February 6, 1947.
Frank worked at Western Foundries in Longmont, CO, Monfort Companies in Greeley, CO, and later retired from School District #6 in Greeley, CO as a custodian. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Platteville. Frank loved sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball.
Survivors include his sons, Bobby Lewis of Greeley, CO, Leroy (Jill) Lewis of Salida, CO, Billy (Debra) Lewis of Brighton, CO, and Sammy Lewis of Greeley, CO, a sister, Rosie Padilla of Lucerne, CO, 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Lewis, by a daughter, Francis Lewis, a son, Charlie Lewis, a Daughter-in-Law, Nancy Lewis, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A private family memorial will be held on March 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO. The family would greatly enjoy stories and special memories shared on the digital guestbook. In lieu of flowers, consider a living tribute to Frank by planting a tree in his memory.
