Frank Shiba, 88, of Greeley, passed away on March 27. He was born on June 4, 1925, in Las Animas, Colorado. On February 7, 1953, Frank married Alyce Tamura. In 1943, Frank enlisted in the army and became an interpreter for the Military Intelligence Service. He received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2012 for his service. After his military service, he farmed in Las Animas, then moved to Greeley in 1977 where he enjoyed meeting with local farmers as a fertilizer representative with Simplot Soilbuilders and Frontier Fertilizer. Frank is survived by his wife Alyce; sister Irene Fujinami of Clayton, CA; son Gary of Houston, TX; daughter, Sandy (Russ) Anson of Greeley; and three grandchildren, Jason (Blair) Shiba and Bryan Shiba, all of Dallas, TX, and Nicole Anson of Fort Collins. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother, Miyoko and John, and his parents. Memorial services and interment, including military honors, will be conducted at a later date.
