Dr. Franklin Richard Fronek age 82, of Greeley passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his home. He was born January 7, 1933 in Gary, Indiana to Ruth (Anderson) and Frank Fronek. He was raised on a fruit and vegetable farm in Gary, Indiana and was the fourth of seven children.

Franklin graduated in 1951 from Griffith High School in Griffith, Indiana. He was in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and served in Japan during the Korean War. He received an “Honorable Discharge” on November 1, 1961. He attended Michigan State University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1955 and then received his Doctor of Philosophy in 1965 after teaching 2 years at the University.

He was hired by E-Z Flo Chemical Company in 1964, a farming supply distributor. In this work he helped growers and companies with any problems they were having with crops in 18 states east of the Mississippi River.

In 1967, Frank was appointed as a member of the Legislative Committee of the National Agricultural Chemicals Association located in Washington, D.C.

In 1977, Dr. Fronek was awarded agriculture’s “Spokesman of the Year” for the U.S., an award in recognition of outstanding efforts in telling the vital story of Agriculture and what it means to our country’s health, economy and well-being by Chevron Chemical Company.

Franklin and his wife Sharon moved to Greeley with their children in 1981 from Lansing, Michigan after ConAgra located in Greeley purchased E-Z Flo Chemical Co. where Franklin worked. He then became Director of Research for United Agri Products in Greeley. In this position he gave talks and helped governments and farmers in various countries when they were having problems growing any crops.

Franklin traveled to and usually took his wife Sharon with him on trips to Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, England, Germany, Holland, Israel, Mexico, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Tasmania, and the U.S. Frank loved to fish and hunt with Sharon, his wife of 34 years.

Survivors include, his wife, Sharon Stobar Fronek, of Greeley, daughters Cynthia Ann of Michigan, Pamela and husband Alan Bebee and their children, Allison, Jill and Rachael of New York, Anna Fronek of Colorado, Lisa and husband Scott West and their children Lindsey and Brynn of Denver. He is also survived by his sons, Franklin Fronek, Jr. and wife Patricia Hurtado of Florida, Quintin Fronek and wife Po Ching Hiui of North Carolina and Jeff Naiukow of Greeley.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Katheryn Fronek of Indiana, his brother Jim and wife Gerry Fronek of Illinois, and his sister Janice Lloyd of Pennsylvania.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Ruth, his sisters, Mildred and Majorie and his brothers Charles and Robert and daughter Elizabeth.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado.
