George William Miller, age 74 of Evans passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007.
Mr. Miller was born on July 9, 1933 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to John William and Edna Eleva Miller.
George was reared in Rolla, Kansas where he met and married Naomi Nadine Holcomb on April 7, 1956, the same year he graduated from the Rolla High School. He lived in the Guymon, Oklahoma and Brighton, Colorado areas during his career with the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company. After 33 years he retired and moved to Evans, Colorado where he lived until his death.
Mr. Miller proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid member of the Third Wheel Club (a motorcycle trike club) and an active member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Guymon, Oklahoma. George was a passionate outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling in his RV. He is fondly remembered for his annual family camping trips to Grand Mesa. However, his greatest legacy left to his family was how he honored his wedding vows by exemplifying "till death do us part." His beloved wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's shortly after his retirement, and he cared for her with compassion, independence, and dedication until her death.
George is survived by a close companion Ester Smith of Canyon City; 2 sons and their wives, Dennis and Anita Miller of Greeley, and John and Jane Miller of Weston, Colorado; a daughter and her husband, Melanie and Robert Smith of Greeley; a brother, Frank Miller of Little Rock Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, Cheree, Cresenda, Rashell, Chris, Jake, and Jordan; 5 great-grandchildren, Michael, Cody, Katelyen, Joshua, and Austin. He is preceded in death by his wife and a grandson, Chad William Miller.
A visitation will be held at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Ave., Evans, CO on Wednesday, October 10 from 5:oo p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will held at a later date in Rolla, Kansas.
