Gerard S. “Jerry” LaPre, 65 of Greeley, formerly of Parker passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

Jerry was born November 2, 1949 to Herbert P. and Isabelle (Girouard) LaPre in Springfield, Massachusetts. He joined the Peace Corp and served in Sierra Leone, Africa. He obtained a bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amhurst and a Master’s degree at Long Island University. He taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at Columbia Middle School for the Aurora Public School System. On June 18, 1988 he married Cindy C. Croissant at St. Paul’s Congregational Church in Greeley. They lived in Parker, Colorado for 25 years before moving to Greeley.
He was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Parker. He enjoyed baseball a great deal, especially his favorite teams, the Yankees and the Rockies. He also had a passion for literature and writing.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cindy C. LaPre, a daughter, Noelle LaPre, both of Greeley, 2 brothers, Cordell and Richard LaPre, a sister, Jean Harrigan, his very special service dog, Tulo, who served him for 4 ½ years, and many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert P. and Isabelle LaPre.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, 1325 3rd Street in Eaton.
