Gerry Allen "Scooter" Sanderson, 58, of Greeley, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at his home.
He was born July 1, 1953 to Harry and Doris (Dawdy) Sanderson in Fort Madison, Iowa, the fifth of ten children. In the 70's, he worked for the railroad in Chicago & Kansas City, where he lived until he moved to Colorado. Once in Colorado, he worked for Navajo as a truck driver.
On September 1, 1984, he married Kristi Finstad and they drove as a team for Monfort Transportation for 7 years. He was a mechanic at Peterbilt and KW for several years. In 2005, he bought a dump truck and drove until his health failed. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley.
Gerry is survived by his wife. Kristi Sanderson of Greeley, his son, Shawn Dean, and daughters; Carol Johnson, and Chloe Sanderson, his brothers; Terryrae Sanderson of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Jay Sanderson of Keokuk, Iowa and his sisters; Linda Daughters of Hamilton, Illinois, Sandy Sanderson of Keokuk, Iowa, Sherry Hamilton of Denmark, Iowa, Sue Sanderson of Donnellson, Iowa, Jayne Courtney of Westminster, Colorado, and Bonnie Hernandez of Demsom, Iowa along with his many, many loving friends. He is preceded by his parents, Harry & Doris Sanderson and a brother, John Sanderson.
A memorial service to celebrate Scooter's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
