Gilbert Roy Martinez of LaSalle passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 in LaSalle as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born on July 13, 1977 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Frank Chavez and Sandra Martinez.

Gilbert married Mistelle Sherman on February 25, 2009 in Greeley. They have lived in LaSalle since 2007.

He attended Fort Collins High School and he owned and operated Storm Roofing. Mr. Martinez attended Faith Tabernacle Church and loved living for God. He had magic fingers and could fix or make anything and everything.

Survivors include his wife Mistele Martinez of LaSalle; his parents, Leo and Sandra Trevizo; his sons, Michael Esparza and Erik and Jordin Martinez; a daughter, Destini Martinez; a brother, Leo Trevizo and a sister, Juanita Castillon. He is preceded in death by his birth father, Frank Chavez, grandmother, Georgia Chavez and his grandfather, Eliu Martinez.

Services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Faith Tabernacle Church, 7001 W. 28th Street in Greeley. They will begin with visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Martinez Memorial Fund and they can be sent in care of Colorado East Bank, 207 1st Avenue in LaSalle.
