Obituary

Gwen Lantz, 85, of Greeley died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Greeley. She was born January 3, 1928 in Tampa, Florida and lived a full life.
Tribute: At age 3, Gwen moved from Tampa with her family to Casper, Wyoming where she was raised. She attended Grace Lutheran Church and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1946. Gwen enjoyed picnics and skiing on Casper Mountain, family dinners and sing-alongs with her brother, Kenneth, playing guitar. She also loved going for long walks, and horseback riding. After graduation, Gwen worked as a Legal Secretary for the Shell Oil Company in Casper and later transferred to Denver with Shell Oil. In 1954, she married Willard Lantz and they resided in Denver with their four children. They moved in 1969 for a brief period to the San Francisco Bay Area and then to La Junta, Colorado where she and her husband raised their children. Gwen was employed by Fort Lyon Veteran's Hospital, Swink High School and also the Otero County Probation office until her retirement in February, 1993. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church and later the First Southern Baptist church in La Junta. Gwen was a Girl Scout leader, avid seamstress, and enjoyed painting. Upon moving to Greeley, Gwen and Willard participated with and volunteered for the Gold Wing Rider's Association. Gwen attended various local area churches and was an active prayer partner for In Touch Ministries. She continued to enjoy her family throughout life and encouraged them in all aspects of their lives including their educational and musical pursuits. She loved horses, most genres of music, playing board games and cards, dancing, and singing.
Survivors: Gwen is survived by one brother, Kenneth Carlson of Show Low, Arizona, one sister, Christine Weckwerth of Greeley, three daughters, Deborah Seychelle and Sharon Lantz of Greeley, Christine Lantz of Denver, and one son, Jesse Lantz of Greeley. She is also survived by five grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
Preceded in death by: her parents, Peter and Sadie, her husband, Willard, three sisters, Fern, Marian, and June, and a brother, Tom.
Viewing is scheduled from 6-8 PM on Thursday, April 25 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 South 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26 at 1:00 PM at Victory Christian Church, 6101 W. 10th Street, Greeley, CO. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
