Obituary

Helen Catherine Martin, 80, of Greeley has moved on to be with God as she passed peacefully alongside her family at Swedish Medical Center in Denver on Dec. 22, 2008. Known lovingly as "Grammy" to family and countless friends, Mrs. Martin was born on July 2, 1928 in Brush, Colo., to Reinhard and Katie Geist. She grew up in Morgan County and attended Fort Morgan High School. She married Albert Martin on January 11, 1947, in Fort Morgan and worked as a cook in the Morgan County school system for 20 years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, cooking, sewing and crafts. Mrs. Martin and her husband moved to Greeley in 1999 after raising her family in Fort Morgan. Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Albert Martin of Greeley; two sisters, Sara Pershing of Aurora, and Alma Scheneman of Fort Morgan; three children, Karen Andre and husband Paul of Greeley, Allen "Butch" Martin and wife Robin of Thornton and Gary Martin and wife Pam of Windsor; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Riney Geist and a sister Elsie Hamby. Memorial Services are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 26, at 10 a.m., at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel in Evans, 3501 S. 11th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Helen Martin Memorial Fund, in care of Advantage Bank, 1801 59th Ave., Greeley.
