Herman Altergott, 81, of Greeley, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at his home.
He was born March 5, 1940 to Herman & Esther (Kaltenberger) Altergott in Windsor, Colorado. He graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1957 and went on to work as an engineer for the Colorado Highway Department, Mountain Aggregate, Bestway Paving and Aggregate Industries. On September 5, 1959, he married Kathleen Carol Meyer at the home of Pastor Martin of Greeley.
Herman was a member of St. Paul's Congregational Church in Greeley and the Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Longs Peak Antique Tractor Club and always enjoyed a game of golf.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Altergott, a son, Michael Herman (Shana) Altergott of Lakewood, Colorado, daughters, Pam (Thurlow Rogers) Schuster of San Diego, California, and Karen (Scott Haney) Altergott of Greeley, Colorado, a brother, Duane Steinbrecher of Greeley, and 3 grandchildren: Mira (Dalton) Ruby, Jordan Altergott and Stephen Schuster.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, Herman & Esther Altergott, 2 stepbrothers, various cousins, and aunts & uncles.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Paul's Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Avenue in Greeley followed by funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Paul's Congregational Church. Interment Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor.
