Howard Vernon Richardson, 87, of Greeley, passed away peacefully at The Bridge on November 7, 2022. Howard was born on May 11, 1935, to Earl and Mildred (Markley) Richardson in Platteville, CO.
Howard graduated from Platteville High School. He married Carol Dean Wooley on August 12, 1956. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Howard and Carol welcomed a son, Scott, on June 15, 1964. They divorced after 28 years.
In his early years, Howard worked for International Harvester in their parts depot in Denver. He was later self-employed and had numerous business ventures, including owning the Tabor Grand Hotel in Leadville, CO, farming and a backhoe business. Howard had several dogs throughout the years that he loved dearly. He enjoyed watching and cheering on the Denver Broncos, hanging out with his friends, fishing and traveling.
Howard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sonja Richardson, granddaughter, Hailey (Brodie) Peif, grandson, Cory (Deanna) Richardson, sister, Earlene Odenbaugh, her children, Stanley Earl (Mary) Odenbaugh, Sharon (Gary) Werning, Susan Odenbaugh, Stacey (Brenda) Odenbaugh and many great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Bridge for their care during the last few years of his life as well as the nurses and doctors at UCHealth Greeley Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville, CO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weld County Humane Society in care of Moser Funeral Service.
