Irma A. Mitchell, 78, of Greeley, died on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
Irma was born on July 22, 1929 in Munich, Germany to Rudolf and Anna (Weidenhiller) Heurung. She lived in Germany from the time of her birth until 1956. She married Dr. Howard Danford in 1956 and moved to Greeley in 1959.
She worked at the University of Northern Colorado bookstore from 1960 until her retirement as Merchandise Manager in 1989. After retiring from U.N.C. she later went on to work as office manager for her son Rudi's company, The Rug Company from 1989 until 1998.
Her greatest joy in life was her grandsons. She rarely missed any of their soccer, bowling, baseball, basketball golf or school activities.
Survivors include her son, Rudi Danford of Greeley; 2 grandsons, Royce and Jared Danford and a sister, Inge Luckman of Phoenix, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Howard Danford in 1964, her son, Steven Mitchell and her parents, Rudolf and Anna Heurung.
A funeral service to celebrate Irma's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. At Irma's request there will be no visitation.
