Jack W. DeLeeuw, 81 of Greeley, died on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit. He was born on April 28, 1928 in Sultan, Washington to William & Effie (Verhoven) DeLeeuw. Jack graduated from high school in Sultan, Washington in 1946. He lived in Sumas, Washington for a very short while then moved with the family to Mt. Vernon, Washington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War for 2 years from November 1950 until October 1952. Mr. DeLeeuw married Gertie Stremler of Lynden, Washington in December of 1952. She died in October of 1964. On June 14, 1968 he married Caroline Rosendale in Denver, Colorado. He worked for Western Farmers in Mt. Vernon, Washington for 22 years and later moved to Greeley, Colorado. In August of 1970 he went to work for Moormans Feed for one year and later went on to work for 20 years for Monfort Food Distribution as a truck driver. He was a member of the Fellowship Church in Greeley. He enjoyed working in his yard, growing flowers in his garden, keeping a very clean car, traveling & biking. Survivors include his wife, Caroline DeLeeuw of Greeley; his son, Bob Rosendale & wife Shirley of Aurora, Colorado; 3 daughters, Debi Flaugher of Greeley, Debra Komodore & husband Alex of Denver, Colorado and Karen Barber & husband Scott of Greeley; 10 Grandchildren and a brother, Bill DeLeeuw & wife Wilma of Quincy, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Gertie DeLeeuw, a sister and 2 brothers. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery (Staging Area "B") in Denver. Memorial services will follow on 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Fellowship Church (2376 47th Avenue) in Greeley. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel in Evans. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Fellowship Church to be used for the Luz de Esparanza Orphanage in Peru.
