Obituary

Lee Jack Woods, 82 of Greeley, Colorado joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 20, 2011.
He was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Doran Charles and Ruth Gene Woods.
He married Catherine June Middleton on September 22, 1950 in Pittsburg, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 29, 1996.
Jack graduated from Pittsburg State College where he received his Bachelors degree in business. He worked for J.C. Penney's from the age of 18 and transferred with the company to Greeley, Colorado in 1965. Throughout his years in Greeley, he owned various retail businesses, including J.V. Smith's women's clothing store, SewCo Distributors, Fabrique, Décor Ltd. and Value Variety. Later, he became a realtor and managed properties through L.J. Woods Realty Management. He also enjoyed working with Carolyn at Carol Lynn's Flowers in recent years. He was a true entrepreneur, loved the retail business, and mentored many small business owners in Greeley. He taught business classes at UNC and Aims.
There were no strangers in Jack's life, just friends he hadn't met. His passion for knowledge and interest in people never waned. He loved playing sports, especially tennis. He played tennis for most of his life, thriving on the competition and camaraderie. His many interests included antiques, music, reading, chess, taking road trips, and participating in the Pioneer Investment Club. Throughout his life, he was an active member and elder of the Presbyterian Church and later became a member of the Greeley Wesleyan Church.
Family came first for Jack. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Attending his grandchildren's activities and sporting events was a highlight. His family loved him dearly.
Survivors include his loving companion, Carolyn Rains; 3 daughters, Brenda Lyons and husband Michael of Centennial, Colorado, Cynthia Woods of Greeley, Debbie Charles and husband Tim of Longmont, Colorado; 3 grandchildren: Steven, Lauren, and Michael Charles all of Longmont; a sister Ann Jensen and husband Paul of Overland Park, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by, his wife, June, his parents, Doran & Ruth Woods and a sister Sue Hefele.
A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Greeley Wesleyan Church, 3600 W. 22nd Street. Private family graveside services will be at Linn Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the church.
Memorial gifts in Jack's honor may be made to Longmont Christian School or the Tennis Association of Greeley. They can be sent in care of Moser Funeral Service, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado 80620.
