James "Jim" Harvey Bonnell, 71, of Galeton went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 25, 2014 in Greeley. James was born on July 30, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to Maurice and Verle (Myers) Bonnell. He lived in Baltimore until moving to Lillian, Neb. in 1946 and later Broken Bow, Neb. in 1950. He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1960 and then moved to Galeton, Colo. in 1961. He was united in marriage to Sharon Meissinger on April 14, 1963 in Greeley. They made their home south of Galeton and James worked as a dairy farmer for 24 years and in the trucking industry for 29 years. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Galeton Fire Department for 21 years during which he was fire chief for two terms and three terms on the board of directors. James greatest joy was his family glorifying God through his music ministry. He produced and recorded his own gospel music and was in various guitar clubs. He also enjoyed four wheeling in the mountains. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Bonnell of Galeton; sons, Michael (Heather) Bonnell, Randy (Katie) Bonnell all of Greeley; daughters, Kelley (Franz) Launer of Greeley, Sherlyn Bonnell of Delaware, OK; 16 grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Harold) Wood of Roxton, TX, Louella (Ed) Komuves of Evansville, IN; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Funeral Chapel in Evans. A graveside service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, at the Eaton Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church of Eaton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name.
