James Stanley “Jim” Conn, 92 of Greeley died on Jan. 7, 2016 at the Hospice & Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley.

He was born April 27 1923 in Wilmore, Kentucky and was raised in Minnesota from the age of two. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years in WWII in the 5th Joint Assault Signal Company. At the time of his discharge he was a sergeant in the Commandant's Communication Office, Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, D.C. He attended Hamline University, Grove City College of Pennsylvania, the University of Wisconsin and he took courses at CSU and UNC. He was a telegrapher, train dispatcher, trainmaster and assistant general manager of the Milwaukie railroad in Chicago, an accountant for Mack Trucks, Inc. and International Harvester and auditor for the State of Wyoming and several positions a business manager. He retired in April, 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan, daughters Alice Conn and Pam Parker, sons James Herreid and Colin (Susan) Conn and grandsons Adam Tijerina, Colin, Tyler (Hillary), and Quinn (Erin) Conn, two great grandchildren and brother Fred Stocker. He is a member of the First Congregational Church and the
Marine Corps League.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at the First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street in Greeley. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
