James E. "Eddie" Foster, 85 of Greeley, Colorado died on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit with his family by his side. He was born on July 5, 1924 in Denver, Colorado to Jamie and Helen (Dietrich) Foster. Mr. Foster married Clare Steinhart on April 18, 1949 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in business finance. He later served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air force serving 12 and a half years retiring in 1969. Eddie and Clare moved to Greeley in 1969. He later owned and operated an antique store, Foster's Clocks from 1971 until 2000. Eddie enjoyed spending time with immediate family and his 23 grandchildren. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Greeley for many years and more recently attended the Evangelical Free Church of Eaton. He was an avid runner for over 25 years and would routinely run about 40 miles a week. Survivors include 2 daughters, Dr. Valerie J. Foster of Arvada, Colorado and Janice M. Mossberg and her husband Randy of Greeley; 5 sons, Dr. David A. Foster and his wife Cathy of Ann arbor, Michigan, Dr. Edward J. Foster and his wife Laura of Anchorage, Alaska, Daniel T. Foster and his wife Teri of Eaton, Colorado, Donald J. Foster and his wife Sandy of Greeley and Dr. Steven K. Foster and his wife Cathy of Greeley and 23 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Clare Foster on March 17, 2008 and 4 sisters. A memorial service to celebrate Eddie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, 1325 3rd Street.
