James Edwin Gordy, Sr., of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit. He was born April 27, 1954 at the Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Technical Sergeant Joseph S. Gordy, Jr. and Helen I. (Rothe) Gordy. James attended schools in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, and graduated high school in Agana, Guam. He was a graduate of Aims Community College and earned his BS and MA degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. On June 22, 1972, he married Scheree Holland and together they had one son, James Jr. They later divorced. He later married Pamala (Kouba) George on September 12, 1998. James enlisted in the Air Force in 1972. He was honorably discharged in 1976 as a Sergeant. James loved to camp and fish with his son, grandchildren, and junior partners. He was active in the sports of softball and coed volleyball until his disabilities forced him to give up sports. Survivors include his wife, Pamala; his son, James Jr.; his granddaughter, Alexandria; grandson, James III; mother-in-law, Dolly Grever; step-daughter, Melissa (Byron) Thompson; step-granddaughters Katarina and Lauren Mitchell, and Madalyn Thompson; his parents; two brothers, Dwight (Freda) of Indio, California, and Joseph III (Laurie) of Georgetown, Texas; sister-in-law Maria Gordy of Georgetown, Texas; and six nephews and one niece. He is preceded in death by his stepson, Gregory George, and his brother, Dwayne Gordy. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment will be in the veterans section at Linn Grove Cemetery.
