Obituary

James L. “Grif” Griffin, 88 of Greeley passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home.

He was born on March 11, 1926 in Pueblo, Colorado to James and Violet (Cocker) Griffin.

Grif graduated from Central High School in Pueblo. He later took classes at Northwest Engineering School in Rapid City, South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. from 1944 through 1946. After receiving his honorable discharge from the military he went to work for CF&I and various body shops in Pueblo. He also worked as an insurance adjuster in Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Mule Deer Foundation and the Greeley Stampede Wranglers.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Griffin of Greeley; 2 sons and their wives, Michael and Judy Guber and Jeffery and Kathy Guber all of Greeley; a brother and his wife, Tom and Sunni Griffin of Pueblo; 8 grandchildren, Andrea(Denis) Drinkwalter, Karen(Terry)Agena, Kasie Tysdal, Krystal(Kyle)Wynne, Michelle, Joshua, Jason and Jeremy Guber and 6 great grandchildren-Savannah, Denis and Trent Drinkwalter, Ryan and Barrett Wynne and Takeo Agena He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margaret “Meg” Griffin, a daughter, Jolynn Tysdale and a son, Jerrold ”JJ” Griffin.

A memorial service to celebrate Grif’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue in Greeley. His urn will be buried at a later date in Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo.
