Janice “Jan” L. Holmes, 84, of Eaton, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

She was born May 2, 1935 to George & Bessie (Hartley) Strait in Aleppo Township, Pennsylvania. She attended school at Center Township in Rogersville, PA, then attended college at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana and business college in Wheeling, West Virginia. On August 20, 1960, she married Roger Holmes in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania.

Jan went to work in banking and was employed by the Eaton Bank for 18 years and Farmer’s Bank in Ault for 8 years. She was a member of the Eaton Baptist Church for over 45 years.

Janice enjoyed gardening, caring for her beautiful flowers, being active, traveled to 46 states, canning, and especially the many special friendships she had over the years. She had a card ministry that spanned 25 years and touched many lives.

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly (Ken) Burns of Eaton, Yvonne (Gary) Anderson of Greeley, step granddaughters, Kasey Bouck, Staci Burns, and Leah Herring.

She was preceded by her husband, Roger Holmes, her parents, George & Bessie Strait, sisters, Helen Ducker and Wanda Welling, and a brother-in-law, Ross “Bud” Ducker.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. A second visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. all at the Eaton Baptist Church, 228 2nd Street in Eaton, Colorado. Interment at Eaton Cemetery.
