Verl "Jean" Sabas, 94, died on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at her home in Greeley, Colorado with her daughter Sue at her side.
Jean Sabas was born July 1, 1927, to Frank and Violet Kehlenbach in Peru, Illinois.
She went to nurses training at Saint Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. She completed nurses training at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She was an Operating Room Nurse and instructor at Passavant Pavilion Hospital, Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She married Jack W. Sabas in 1954. She had three children, Michele (James) Wagner, Michael (Marie) Sabas and Susan Sabas. She has two grandchildren, Jennifer (Ronald) Derengowski and Karen (John) Krestan. She has three great grandchildren Charlotte L. Krestan, Hudson A. Derengowski and Henry J. Krestan. She was an avid reader, bridge player, needle worker, and she loved pets, especially her West Highland Terrier (Miss Sara).
Jean is survived by her children and sister Laurene Evans. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack.
Donations may be made to Banner Hospice of Northern Colorado, Boys Town, Mercy Homes for Boys and Girls, or Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Greeley, Colorado.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Ave., in Greeley.
