Jennie Lucero, 74 of Ault, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at her daughter's home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 3, 1933 in Wylie, Colorado to Martin and Conception Martinez. Jennie, along with her brothers and sisters, lived in the area for 17 years; later moving to La Junta, Colorado. On November 10, 1951 she married Manual Lucero in La Junta. Jennie and Manual moved to Ault soon after they were married to start their family. Mrs. Lucero was an active member of the Ault Town Board for many years. She enjoyed being a part of the Ault community attending the Ault senior citizens functions and church. She made many lifelong friends within the community. Jennie enjoyed reading, writing, embroidering, painting and gardening among many other things. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her three children; Edith Siemens and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Felix Lucero of Evans, Colorado and Pati Lucero and Husband Don Comstock of Lake City; her 3 grandchildren, Manual Siemens and wife Kate, Jolene Timm and husband Shane and Peggy Holland and husband Elton; 4 great grandchildren and her siblings, Kathryn Martinez of La Junta, Carmen Martinez of Wisconsin, Martin Martinez Jr., Joe and Mary Martinez, Vera Martinez and Rosie Martinez all of La Junta. She is preceded in death by her husband, Manual Lucero; a sisgter, Francis Martinez; her parents Martin and Conception Martinez and a brother in law, Pete Martinez. A memorial service to celebrate Jennie's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans.
