Jo Ann Balltrip, 57 of Greeley, Colorado, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver.
She was born on April 9, 1954 in Aurora, Colorado to Isaac and Shirley (Mans) Montoya.
Jo Ann grew up in Leadville, Colorado where she attended Lake County High School. She later married Kenneth Balltrip on November 13, 1971 in Leadville.
Mrs. Balltrip worked for Safeway Stores for many years in Leadville, Longmont, Estes Park and Greeley. She was active in the community serving as president of the Greeley Jaycees, 1987-88 . She was also a member of the Greeley B.P.O. Does Drove #216 and served as president from 2007 – 2009 and at present was still serving as an officer. She was a devoted Nana to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Ken Balltrip of Greeley; her mother, Shirley Montoya of Lafayette, Colorado; 2 sons and their wives, Kenny and Sonja Balltrip of Greeley and Keith and Stephanie Balltrip of Aurora; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly, Nate and Sienna Balltrip; 4 sisters, Elaine Cox and husband Steve of Evergreen, Colorado, Ellie Berthoud and husband Todd of Broomfield, Colorado, Mary Stringham and husband Marshall of Arvada, Colorado and Pam Montoya of Lafayette, Colorado and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dog, Jack. She is preceded in death by her father, Isaac Montoya.
A memorial service to celebrate Jo Ann's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, the 22 day of July, 2011 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. A reception to follow at the Greeley Elks Lodge, 3061 29th St. in Greeley.
