Obituary

Joan Edith (Andress) Rollin, 82, of Eaton, CO died on Thursday, September 7, 2023, after a long illness.

She was born on December 29, 1940, in Metamora, Michigan to Harold and Irma Andress. She was the seventh child born to Harold & Irma. When Joan was XX years old, her family moved to Tawas City, Michigan. It was there that she met the love of her life, Kenneth (Ken) Rollin. A week after graduating from Tawas Area High School in 1959, Joan and Ken were married on June 13, 1959. On July 30, 1960, they had a son, Kurt Richard Rollin, then on April 10, 1962, they had a second son, Kent Roger Rollin. During the early years of her marriage, Joan was a housewife, homemaker, and wonderful mother.

In January 1969, Joan and Ken and their sons moved to Longmont, Colorado. Joan continued to be a stay-at-home mom and housewife, as her sons grew older and her husband became a part owner and founder of Rocky Mountain Consultants, a consulting engineering firm located in Longmont. During this time, Joan provided much needed support and encouragement to her husband and sons. While being the head of a household of men, she was never to shy to jump and play touch football or soccer in the backyard. She also became a huge Denver Broncos fan while watching the games with her husband and sons. She enjoyed watching and supporting her sons as they played sports throughout their junior high and high school years.

It is also in Longmont that Joan developed a passion for gardening and growing flowers. It is a hobby that she continued up till the later years of her life. It was also in Longmont that Joan and Ken got their first of many dachshunds. They were the proud owners of many dogs throughout their lives. Joan developed a keen love of all animals and was a proud supporter of many local Humane Societies.

As her sons grew older, Joan took classes and became a Tax Preparer at H&R Block, and then went on to become an IRS Certified Enrolled Agent. She worked at H&R Block for a few years, then went on to have her own Tax Preparation Business that she retired from in 2010.

In 2001. Joan and Ken moved to Eaton, CO where they both started attending and became members at the Faith Lutheran Church. Joan volunteered at the church office and served on the Church Board. They eventually started attending and became members of the First Congressional Church (now Eaton Community Church), where Joan remained a member until her death. While at both churches, Joan made many great and long-lasting friends whom she loved dearly.

Joan was also full of love and was very proud of the accomplishments of her three grandsons as they grew up in New Jersey. She loved to visit them in their home, especially enjoyed their visits to her in Colorado.

Joan is survived by her two sons, Kurt of Milliken, CO and Kent (Marie) of Hawthorne, New Jersey, her three grandsons (Joe, KJ (Mackenzie) and Patrick), her two great grandchildren (Ryder and Madison), her oldest sister, Arlene Robbins of California, one of her brothers, Howard Andress of Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Harold and Irma Andress, her beloved husband, Ken Rollin, her oldest brother, Harold (Bud) Andress, and her sisters, Rosie, Elaine, and Joyce, and her numerous dogs.

To commemorate Joan, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Eaton Community Church, 1561 Benjamin Drive in Eaton.
