Joe Nemencio Montez, 56, of Billings, Montana formerly of Greeley, died on Staurday January 20, 2007 at his home in Billings. He was born on December 20, 1950 in Greeley to Nemencio and Maria Concepction (Perez) Montez. Joe attended Greeley Central High School and later joined the U.S. Army where he finished his education. He joined the army when he was only 17 years old and served from 1968 until 1970 during the Vietnam War. He began his service in Germany and it was during this time that he earned his Jump Wings while serving with the Airborne Brigade. He went on to serve in Vietnam from October of 1969 until October of 1970. Mr. Montez later worked for Kodak of Colorado for 10 years until his health would no longer allow it. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and building model cars. He moved from Greeley to Billings in 1999. Survivors include his mother & step father, Connie & Chemo Jaramillo of Greeley; a sister, Elizabeth J. Oliva of Greeley; a brother and his wife, Charles L. and Charlene Montez of Loveland; a special God son, Monestario M. Montez of Loveland and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Nemencio Montez; a brother, Jesse F. Montez; his grandmother, Carmen C. Lopez and 3 uncles & 1 aunt. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd Street. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. Recitation of Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Moser.
