Joseph Robert "Joe" Shoemate, 75, of Evans, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at his home. Joe was born August 18, 1936 to Arthur Lee and Altie Lee (Easton) Shoemate in Lamar, Texas. He spent most of his life in Clovis, New Mexico where he married Gloria Ann Sallee on June 10, 1956. They moved to Evans, Colorado 8 years ago. Joe was a self-employed auto mechanic for most of his life and also worked for Pioneer Press in Greeley for 7 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and his love of automobiles led to his becoming a mechanic. Joe is survived by his wife, Gloria Shoemate, his sons, Brian & wife Christine Shoemate of Colorado Springs, and Robert & wife Linda Shoemate of Windsor, Colorado, his brothers, Elbert & wife Mary Aynn Shoemate of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Randy & wife Pam Shoemate of Ponder, Texas, a sister, Jean Stephens of Bedford, Texas, and grandchildren, Samuel, Nathan, Joanna, Ruth, Abby, Michael and Matthew. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Altie Shoemate, a sister Ann Williams, and grandsons, Danyiel and Benjamin Shoemate. A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Mountain View Evangelical Free Church of Greeley, 6253 W. 28th Street. The interment service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26th from 3-7 p.m. at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Ave, in Evans, CO 80620. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. View Evangelical Church, Samaritan's Purse, or Missionary Crusader in care of Moser Funeral Service.
