John L. McCarthy, 86, of Greeley, died Friday, August 5, 2016 in Greeley.
John was born on June 23, 1930, in Denver, Colo. to Martin and Elizabeth (Luhr) McCarthy. He grew up in Denver, graduating from East High School in 1948 and later attended Denver University, graduating in 1954. John served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1951.
On Jan. 26, 1957, John was united in marriage to Jean Baer in Denver. They made their home in Greeley since 1966. He worked in finance and real estate.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Greeley; sons, John T. (Mary) McCarthy of Castle Pines, CO, Bill J. (Caren) McCarthy of Monument, CO; daughter, Tracy (Norm) Silta of Soldotna, AK; nine grandchildren; and two nephews, Jim and Marty Stitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jean Baird; and grandson, Steven McCarthy.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
