Judy E. (Orr) Elam, 65, of Greeley, died on Monday, September 15, 2008 in Greeley at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. She was born to Orville and Marguerite Orr on November 19, 1942 in Greeley where she grew up with her brothers, Willard, Alvin and Byron. Judy married James D. Harris in 1959. They lived in Greeley and had two children; a daughter, Shari L. Harris and a son, Donald L. Harris. The remained in Greeley until husband James Harris passed away in 1965. Judy later married Harold D. Elam in 1967. They then moved to a home east of Evans where Judy had another daughter, Christina K. Elam. She was a member of the Eagles and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 6624, where she worked as a bartender for over 20 years. Judy was a very honest, friendly and considerate person and we were all blessed by her presence. She is survived by her mother, Marguerite Orr; a brother and his family, Alvin & Phyllis Orr and David Orr; her son, Donald Harris, her daughter, Christina Elam; granddaughter, Tara Miller; grandson, Chad Miller; her brothers & sisters in law, Herbie Harris, Myrt Mesmer, Margie Goetzel and their families, Howard and Sharon Elam, Don Elam, Lee Elam and their families and special friend, Gerald Heberlein. She is preceded in death by her father, Orville Orr, her brothers Willard and Byron Orr, husband, James D. Harris, a daughter, Shari L. (Harris) Miller and ex husband, Harold (Bud) Elam,a nephew, Mark Orr and her father & mother in law, Walter & Eva Harris. A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Evans V.F.W. Post 6624 (3501 State St.) in Evans. Dinner will be served after the service.
