Kenneth Ruben Alles, 69 of Greeley, died on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born on August 4, 1942 to Ruben and Marie Bruntz Alles in the Auburn district of Greeley, Colorado. Ken attended College High (1960) where he was a captain of the football team and wrestled for the Bulldogs. Ken grew up working on the family dairy farm. He later became president of the American Milking Shorthorn Association in the 1970s. Ken was Vice President in charge of the field department for Miner and Miner Consulting Engineers of Greeley, where he worked for over 25 years. He traveled extensively during this time, living and working in Alaska, Montana, Kansas, Wyoming and Arizona. In Alaska, he was resident engineer for the construction of the power lines that follow the Alaska Pipeline. Ken also taught power line design throughout his career. Ken and his wife Jean returned to Greeley permanently in 1998 and established their own surveying and design business, Alles and Associates, Inc. Ken was a long time member of St. Paul's Congregational Church in Greeley. He was beloved by his large family and many friends who will remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a good neighbor, a skilled gardener, and a delightful storyteller. Ken is survived by his wife, Jean, and eight children; Stephanie Alles Collingwood, Felicia Alles Trecek, Heidi Alles Ruddlesdin, Joseph K. Alles, Aaron J. Alles, Bonita Ballard Thistle, Stuart Ballard, Brian Ballard, and fifteen grandchildren whom he adored. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Marie Alles, his brother, Arthur Gene Alles and his sister, Olinda Luella Alles. A memorial service to celebrate Ken's life will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Paul's Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Avenue. A reception will follow the services.
