Obituary

Kevin Duane Kelly, 56, of Eaton passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

He was born November 22, 1959 to Floyd Duane & Leafe Maxine (Stanton) Kelly in Emporia, Kansas and spent most of his childhood and early adult life in his hometown of Logan, Kansas where much of his family lived also. Kevin moved to Lake Park, Iowa where he lived 20 years and pursued a career in the trucking industry and started a family with his wife and step-children and his first born son, Logan James Douglas. In 2006, he was remarried and had another son, Kevin Nolan. He had a love for the Rocky Mountains and talked often of moving to Colorado, which he did in 2008, where he has lived with his wife, Shawn and their children for the past 8 years.

Kevin was in the trucking industry for most of his life, with a few side careers along the way. It was something he loved and he gained the deepest respect from all those he worked with for his wonderful work ethic and the genuine way he cared for people. He was never short of smiles and joking around.

Kevin was a generous man when it came to helping others, always ready to help in any way he could. If he wasn’t driving truck, you could most likely find him in the shop fixing something. He loved to fix things and was very knowledgeable about semi-trucks and many other trades. He was very proud of the homestead and shop where he lived, a dream come true for him.
After moving to Colorado, he started attending Resurrection Fellowship Church with his family. They became members and he proudly served on the Usher and Watchman Teams. Going to church was very important to him. Although he always placed high priority on working hard and providing for his family, he realized that he wanted to impart and share his faith with his children and grandchildren.

He was the fifth of six children. As a youth, Kevin was involved in Boy Scouts and loved Scout Camps and went on to help his son, Nolan. He played football in high school and went on to play for Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

One of Kevin’s many passions was riding motorcycles, with great memories of giving his grandmother, Ollie rides on his Harley.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Shawn Kelly, his mother Maxine Leafe Stanton Kelly, his sons, Benjamin Allen Reverts, Logan James Douglas Kelly and Kevin Nolan Kelly, his daughters; Abby Reverts Pedersen, Nicole Marie Van Hunnick, Shelby Ann Mager, and Adrienne Rene Van Hunnick, a brother, Michael Lynn Kelly, sisters, Marilyn Jo Donahey, Jackalyn Lea Bostick, Jaynelle Rae McCreery, and Jamie Dea Fischer and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded by his father, Floyd Duane Kelly and his grandmother, Ollie Stanton.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Kelly home, 38246 CR 43 in Eaton.
