LaVern A. Ledall died peacefully October 31, 2023, in Denver, Colorado.
He was a third generation native of Colorado. He was born September 29, 1936, in Greeley, Colorado. He was the youngest son of Carlton and Esther (Benson) Ledall. His father was a dryland farmer in Purcell, Colorado until Thanksgiving Day 1947, when the family moved to Eaton, Colorado. Carlton bought a tractor which was the beginning of Ledall & Sons and did business for many years. His sons, LaVern and Herb continued the business as Ledall Brothers Construction. Vern retired in 2005.
Vern was always there to help his family and friends. He was also active in the Eaton community, serving on the Volunteer Fire Department, School Board, and as a member of the Fire Board.
Vern was very proud of his Swedish ancestry. His maternal grandparents immigrated from Sweden. He enjoyed a trip to Sweden with his daughter, Diann, in 2008, and spent time with many of his relatives. He was a member of the Swedish Club in Eaton.
He enjoyed watching the Rockies, Broncos, and Nuggets games. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends for coffee.
Vern attended Eaton High School where he met his lifelong friends Whitey Bopp and Roger Poe. During high school and after graduation, he worked nights at the Great Western Sugar Factory, and later worked with his father and brother at Ledall & Sons during the day. His daughters enjoyed the divinity he learned to make at the Sugar Factory, during Christmas as children. He eventually went to work with his father and brother full-time.
He met his wife, Marilyn, through mutual friends, and they were married on August 11, 1967. He and his friends built a house for the family. Vern was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
