Leona June Bowker, 88, of Greeley, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at UC
Health Greeley Hospital in Greeley.
Leona was born on October 31, 1934, in Hotchkiss, Colorado to Joseph William
and Wilma "Alice" (McKellar) Noland. She graduated from Hotchkiss High
School in 1952 and later attended the Greeley Academy of Beauty in 1968.
On August 7, 1953, Leona was united in marriage to Edwin Earl Bowker at Oak
Harbor Naval Station in Washington state. They made their home in Greeley in
1957 where they resided since. She opened Leona's Beauty Shop in 1970 and
operated it until 1999 when she retired. She and her husband, Edwin Bowker
spent several years traveling around the United States.
Leona was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Red Hat
Ladies. She enjoyed quilting, fishing and camping. Her favorite place to go was
Chambers Lake where she loved to go camping with her children and grand-
children.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Earl Bowker of Greeley, CO, daughters,
Belinda (Charles) Taylor of Ogden, UT, Bonnie (David) Martin of Ankeny, IA,
Robin (Martin) Vierow of Fort Lupton, CO, a foster-son John (Shari) Markley
of Grand Junction, CO; a brother Joseph Merle (Olga) Noland of Grand Junction, CO;
10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Noland and Alice McKellar; son,
Joseph Bowker.
