Leona R. Harvey, 97, of Greeley, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Bonell Good Samaritan Home.
She was born March 23, 1912 to parents Henry and Delilah (Baker) Weaver in Phenix City, Alabama. Leona married John Burkes in 1929.
She later married James Harvey and lived in Ft. Knox and Louisville, Kentucky. After she retired, she moved to Las Vegas to be near her 3 sons. In 2001, Leona moved to Greeley, and lived at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center.
Survivors include her son, Joel Burkes and wife Mary of Eaton, Brother Dan Weaver of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, sister-in-law, Margaret Weaver, of Phenix City, Alabama, daughter-in-law, Charlotte Burkes, of Las Vegas, Nevada, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Roderick, Jack and Mike Burkes and daughter-in-law Charleen Burkes all of Las Vegas, and son Terry Harvey of Boulder, 3 grandchildren, Mitzi and Jack Burkes Jr. and Amanda Burkes.
A memorial service will be held at Bonell Good Samaritan Chapel in Greeley on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
