Leonard Dale Ditter 57, Greeley (aka Uncle Lenny) passed away on Saturday January 22, 2011 at NCMC. Leonard was born on 9/10/53 to Daniel and Leona (Wiederspahn) Ditter in Greeley. He grew up on a farm east of Greeley where he learned to farm and drive trucks, helping his father haul silage for Farrs and Monforts, and Sugar Beets for Great Western on the rehaul.
He attended Greeley Central High School. Leonard lived and farmed in the Greeley area all his life. On September 27, 1974, he married Diane Winter, the love of his life for over 36 years. He owned and operated Ditter Enterprises with his wife. They hauled gravel and asphalt for Lafarge and other companies and feed for Agland.
He started out partners with his dad in the trucking business, then later with his brother Larry as Ditter Brothers. They both farmed together till Larry's death in 2003, Leonard continued the truck business and farming with his wife and hired man and friend George Morado. Diane's brother Leroy and his hand Bob Winder and father Eugene Winter were always there to help in the farming as well. They all worked together in harvest.
Leonard loved country and western music, listening to Willie's Place on XM Satellite Radio. He loved working on cars with his son, Nick. He liked classic cars, especially his '67 Nova and Chevelle. The cruisers really caught his fancy, especially the model T's.
In these last months during his illness he treasured the visits by all his and Diane's family and his many friends. Dave Monson, Steve Winter, Leroy Winter and Duane Gaffy were a real comfort for him. He really enjoyed and loved his sisters Marge and Sharon and his niece and nephews. Marge's daughter Tammy, whom he grew up with, was like a younger sister to him.
Leonard loved helping his nephews Stacy in his construction business running a loader when he needed help. His nephews Lanny and Jammy were a great help to Leonard when he needed it on the farm. He was always there to help them also when they needed it.
